Provided that the terms and conditions of this Dealer
Care Extended Guarantee are fully complied with the
following specifically listed components and labour costs are covered against mechanical breakdown.
Within the period of Extended Guarantee the number of claims are unlimited.
Cover available:
- 5 Star cover is available to vehicles up to 5 years old and under 60,000 miles at inception
- Cover available for up to 3 years
- Unlimited number of claims (individually not exceeding the value of the vehicle).
All mechanical and electrical Components of the insured Vehicle are covered, provided they are of the original manufacturer's specification, except those listed under 'What is excluded' below:
- Oil Seals and Gaskets
All oil seals and gaskets are covered for sudden failure (except where the failure is due to Wear and Tear).
- Timing Belt
If the timing belt has been changed in accordance with the time/mileage requirements specified by the manufacturer (receipt required) it will be covered against mechanical breakdown.
- Important
See notes on page headed "Service Schedule" / “Timing Belt Warning”.
- Casings
Consequential damage to casings caused by the failure of a covered Component will constitute part of the total claim within the cover limits.
- Working Materials
Should any authorised repair to any of the above Components require essential replacement of or topping up of lubricants, oils or coolant or replacement of the oil filter these shall be covered as part of the total claim within the cover limits.
Optional additional cover.
The following will only be included if selected as optional additional cover items on the Application Form, and the appropriate additional payments paid.
- Turbocharger / Supercharger / Kompressor
The complete unit is covered providing it is of original manufacturer’s equipment (including the wastegate if it is an integral part of the unit and cannot be bought separately).
- Anti Lock Brake System (ABS)
Factory fitted anti-lock braking systems are covered.
(Excluding: wiring and connection faults).
- Air Conditioning / Climate Control
Factory fitted air conditioning systems are covered (Excluding pipes, unions, wiring and receiver drier).
- Re-gassing
Within the limits of indemnity, where the replacement of a covered Component requires re-gassing of the system, a maximum of £40.00 Inc. VAT will be contributed (routine maintenance/re-gassing is notcovered).
- Catalytic Converter
The factory fitted catalytic converter is covered for mechanicalBreakdown (excludes damage caused by impact, corrosion or incorrectgrade or type of fuel).
What is excluded
Bodywork, paintwork, light units, interior and exterior trim, glass (including mirrors), handles and hinges, cables, pipes, wires, belts, fasteners, exhaust systems, alarms, tracker units, immobilisers, central locking remote control unit, in-car entertainment systems including LCD/television screens, seats, seat belt systems and air bag systems.
Workshop consumables and service/maintenance items which includes, but is not limited to; spark plugs, glow plugs, brake and clutch frictional material, wiper blades and arms, bulbs, batteries and fuses.
Important
It is essential that the customer obtains an authority number from Car Protect Claims Department before any repairs commence.
Additional Benefits
For any of the following services your customer must contact Car Protect on 08454 747404 for authorisation.
- Car Hire
Should a valid claim incorporate a labour time in excess of 8 hours (according to I.C.M.E. standard repair times), to keep you mobile your Dealer Care Extended Guarantee will pay £25 per day (inc. VAT.) for up to a maximum of seven days toward the cost of car hire. The repair time is actual labour time only, not including delays to the commencement of repairs for any reason. Prior approval must be obtained and the receipt retained for inspection by Car Protect.
- Continental Use
The Dealer Care Extended Guarantee also covers you in Mainland Europe and Eire for personal trips to a maximum period of 60 consecutive days. Claims made (in line with the Terms & Conditions) during Continental Use will be reimbursed according to U.K. parts and labour costs at that time. Vehicle hire and recovery benefits are not available during continental use.
- Hotel / Accommodation and Rail Fare
Should your vehicle breakdown away from home and leave you immobile, your Dealer Care Extended Guarantee will pay up to £100 inc. VAT. toward the cost of Hotel Accommodation or Rail Fare expenses to get you home, (provided breakdown results in a valid claim under the terms of the Dealer Care Extended Guarantee).
- Recovery
In the event of a breakdown resulting in a valid claim and when your vehicle is immobile (or if continued driving could cause danger or further damage) - your Dealer Care Extended Guarantee will pay up to £30.00 inc. VAT. toward the cost of recovering it to a repairing garage.
